Traces of Time through Space

چکیده

Technology have long been a partner of workplace meeting facilitation. The recent outbreak COVID-19 and the cautionary measures to reduce its spread made it more prevalent than ever before in form online-meetings. In this paper, we recount our experiences during weekly meetings three modalities: using SAGE2 - collaborative sharing software designed for large displays co-located meetings, conventional projector Zoom video-conferencing tool distributed meetings. We view these through lens effective attributes share ethnographic observations attitudinal survey conducted research lab. discuss patterns content sharing, either sequential, parallel, or semi-parallel, potential advantages creating complex canvases content. see how affords parallel create canvases, which represent queues ideas contributions (past, present, future) space on display suggest progression time meeting.

Discriminating Traces with Time

What properties about the internals of a program explain the possible di↵erences in its overall running time for di↵erent inputs? In this paper, we propose a formal framework for considering this question we dub trace-set discrimination. We show that even though the algorithmic problem of computing maximum likelihood discriminants is NP-hard, approaches based on integer linear programming (ILP)...

Smashing: Folding Space to Tile through Time

Partial differential equation solvers spend most of their computation time performing nearest neighbor (stencil) computations on grids that model spatial domains. Tiling is an effective performance optimization for improving the data locality and enabling course-grain parallelization for such computations. However, when the domains are periodic, tiling through time is not directly applicable du...

Intratumor heterogeneity: evolution through space and time.

Recent technologic advances have permitted higher resolution and more rapid analysis of individual cancer genomes at the single-nucleotide level. Such advances have shown bewildering intertumor heterogeneity with limited somatic alterations shared between tumors of the same histopathologic subtype. Exacerbating such complexity, increasing evidence of intratumor genetic heterogeneity (ITH) is em...

Modeling Coastal Vulnerability through Space and Time

Coastal ecosystems experience a wide range of stressors including wave forces, storm surge, sea-level rise, and anthropogenic modification and are thus vulnerable to erosion. Urban coastal ecosystems are especially important due to the large populations these limited ecosystems serve. However, few studies have addressed the issue of urban coastal vulnerability at the landscape scale with spatia...

Binding space and time through action.

Space and time are intimately coupled dimensions in the human brain. Several lines of evidence suggest that space and time are processed by a shared analogue magnitude system. It has been proposed that actions are instrumental in establishing this shared magnitude system. Here we provide evidence in support of this hypothesis, by showing that the interaction between space and time is enhanced w...
